Published Fri 09 May 2025

Dear Biathlon Australia Family,

Biathlon Australia are thrilled to announce that we have secured funding from the Victorian Government’s Significant Sporting Events Program for the 2025 National Biathlon Championships (19-20 July 2025) and 2025 Australian Biathlon Championships (9-10 August 2025) to be held at Whiskey Flat, Mt Hotham, Victoria.

This assistance will greatly benefit our community and contribute to the ongoing promotion of the Olympic/Paralympic sport of Biathlon. We are extremely grateful for the Victorian Government’s generous support.

Victorian Government Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said he’s excited to welcome the country’s best biathletes to Mt Hotham.  “It will be great to host Australia’s best biathletes here in Victoria - showcasing iconic Mt Hotham and helping support local jobs and businesses during the championships.”

“We greatly appreciate this fantastic support from the Victorian Government” said Dave Windsor, Chair of Biathlon Australia, “it’s another example of the positive strides that Biathlon Australia are making, both here and abroad, and aligns with our vision for ‘A Better Biathlon for All’.

“We look forward to having an amazing domestic season in the lead up to the 2025/26 IBU season and the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic & Paralympic Games and this support will go a long way to realising our competitive goals.”

We are truly excited about the potential these events have to inspire participation, showcase Australia’s awesome Biathlon talent, and celebrate sportsmanship - all in Victoria’s beautiful Alpine environment.

We look forward to seeing you in Mt Hotham, Victoria at the Biathlon Championships in July and August and celebrating the spirit of competition together.
