Upcoming European Camps and races

Published Wed 26 Aug 2026

Dear Athletes,

We have been working on plans for the European season.

The new qualification requirements for IBU Junior events have made the logistics a little more complicated, but we hope these camps and race opportunities will provide a suitable pathway for athletes to progress.

Please complete the registrations for the camps, races and programs that are relevant to you.

Plans for 2027 will depend on the qualification points and results athletes are able to obtain during the season.

Finland Camp and Races

We have planned a training camp in Finland starting in late October, in partnership with the Finnish Biathlon Federation. The program will include the opportunity to race at the Kontiolahti Grand Prix on 14–15 November, which offers IBU Qualification Points.

The Finland program is designed to help athletes prepare for IBU Cup competition and, for those who require qualification points for IBU Cup or IBU Junior Cup, provide opportunities to work towards achieving these.

Ana will manage the camps in Finland and IBU races in Trimester 1.

Program:

  • 26 October – 4 November: Vuokatti Camp – First Snow
  • 5–22 November: Kontiolahti Camp
  • 14–15 November: Kontiolahti Grand Prix – IBU QP event
  • 26–29 November: Idre IBU Cup
  • 26–28 November: Kontiolahti World Cup – subject to receiving a wildcard
  • 2–5 December: Sjusjøen IBU Cup
  • 17–20 December: Obertilliach IBU Cup

Registration deadline: 20 September 2026. Click here to register.

We need registrations by this date to allow us to book accommodation.

IBU–IOC Development Camp – Martell

The IBU–IOC Development Camp will be held in Martell from 30 November – 6 December. Biathlon Australia can nominate four athletes (two female and two male athletes) and one coach.

Athletes must have their own rifle for this camp.

Following the IBU–IOC Camp, we plan to hold a training camp in Martell from 6–13 December, including  the Regional Event on 12–13 December.

Athletes will then have the opportunity to travel to Obertilliach and continue training.

Registration deadline: 20 September 2026. Click here to register.

Junior Development Camp – Obertilliach

4–15 January 2027

This will be a residential junior development camp based in Obertilliach, using our Austrian partnership house.

Athletes will need their own .22 rifle but Air rifles may be available for hire if required.

Registration deadline: 1 November 2026. Click here to register.

We encourage athletes and families to look carefully at the opportunities available and register for the programs that best suit their individual development and qualification pathway.

Further details regarding selection, travel and logistics will be provided as plans are confirmed.

The camps will be residential, with costs while at camp covered by Biathlon Australia.

Athletes will be responsible for their own travel cost.

Regards,

Sandra and Ana
