Successful Grant Funding
Biathlon Australia has been successful in securing funding through the Safeguarding in Sport Continuous Improvement Program Special Initiative Funding 2026.
The Safeguarding in Sport Continuous Improvement Program (SISCIP) Special Initiative Funding provides financial support to sporting organisations to strengthen safeguarding frameworks and practices. The program focuses on driving continuous improvement and achieving sustainable, long-term safeguarding outcomes across the sport sector.
Biathlon Australia will be using the funding to support the development and implementation of systems and processes to design, deliver, track, and evidence three key safeguarding recommendations: personnel inductions, screening checks (both local and international), and a centralised compliance register. These initiatives will assist Biathlon Australia to work towards achieving the outcomes of the SISCIP Special Initiative Funding which covers;
- Strengthening the capability of sporting organisations to keep children, young people and members safe.
- Driving a cultural shift that prioritises the safety of children, young people, and members.
- Improving knowledge and responses to child abuse risks.
- Supporting sports to demonstrate commitment and leadership in safeguarding at all levels and
- Building community confidence that sports are providing safe environments for children and young people.
As Biathlon Australia progresses this project, member engagement will be paramount, and we pre-emptively thank you all for your support and engagement in such an important project that supports safeguarding children and young people in our sport.
We are extremely grateful to the Australian Sports Commission for granting us this funding, which will go a long way to make our sport better, safer and ultimately more fun.
