Dear Biathlon Family Australia,
To be eligible to represent Australia to compete in IBU competitions in the rifle target shooting sport of biathlon your firearms licence “Genuine Reasons” must include “Sport/Target Shooting”. This applies all the way to those aspiring to represent AUS NF at pinnacle events such as the Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Winter Games.
For Milano Cortina 2026 a maximum of two quota places per gender can be earned by AOC through the IBU Qualifying points list as of 18 January 2026. The IBU’s most recent Milano-Cortina 2026 Biathlon Qualification Update is here.
Our National Para Team consisting of Matt Brumby, Dave Miln, and Taryn Dickens guided by Lynn-Maree Cullen is also gearing up for their next IBU qualification events:
- World Cup 1 - Canmore, CAN: 8–14 December 2025
- WC 2 – Notschrei, GER: 5–11 January 2026
- WC 3 – Jakuszyce, POL: 19–25 January 2026
- PWG – Val di Fiemme, ITA: 5–13 March 2026
We wish all our sport/target shooters all the best in their preparations to represent Australia on the world stage. With this week's snow dump there is still plenty of cross country skiing action to be had in September before heading North for the Olympic winter season.
