SIA Research and Annual Update

Published Mon 28 Apr 2025

Dear All,

A quick reminder that the Annual Update 2025 eLearning course is now available on the Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) eLearning Hub Thank you to all those who have alredy sent their updated certificates to the EO.

Once you have completed your 2025 Annual Update, please send a copy of your certification through to the EO at executiveofficer@biathlonaustralia.com.au

This year’s edition of the course looks to help learners apply their sport integrity knowledge to real-world situations across a variety of topics, including:

  • Changes to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s 2025 Prohibited List

  • Applying for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs)

  • Illicit Drugs in Sport

  • Preventing competition manipulation

  • Staying safe online

  • And many more!

As completion of the Annual Update is a requirement for all National, International and Testing Pool Athletes and Coaches we would encourage those who have not already completed the course to do so prior to the National Championships in July/August 2025.

The recent research conducted by Sport Integrity Australia to assess the likelihood of athletes accidentally purchasing a product containing one or more World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited Substances is another reminder of why courses like the Annual Update are vitally important for athletes, coaches and support personnel to stay informed about the potential risks and how to avoid breaching anti-doping rules.

The findings of this recent research, revealed that of the 200 products tested, 35%, around one in three, were found to contain one or more WADA Prohibited Substances. It also revealed that 57% of the positive products did not list the prohibited ingredients on their packaging or website, leaving athletes vulnerable to anti-doping rule violations.

For further information on this research please visit the Sport Integrity Australia Website.

Biathlon Australia will also be working with Sport Integrity Australia to coordinate a number of Anti-Doping webinars to be delivered in the coming months.

Further details will follow.
