Phoenix Sparke from WYOG 2024 to World Cup 2025 debut

Dear Biathlon Australia Family,

Australia’s number one male biathlete, Phoenix Sparke, has received a World Cup Wild Card Men and is gearing up to make his World Cup debut at World Cup 2 in Hochfilzen. Phoenix is fresh from representing AUS at the Loop One festival in Munich and was excited to hear he would be the first male to represent AUS on the top level World Cup biathlon circuit in over a decade. He will join Darcie Morton when he makes his World Cup debut in which could be the first time a male and female from Australia race together on the World Cup circuit in over thirty years. Getting a male and female back on the IBU World Cup circuit in 2025 is a massive achievement. Matty Brumby and Taryn Dickens became the first to represent Australia at a Para Biathlon World Cup earlier this year and we are looking to add more names to this list in the lead up to 2026 Milano Cortina:

Phoenix Sparke was a 2024 Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship Holder, represented AUS at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games, debuted at the 2025 World Championships, represented AUS at the LOOP ONE festival in Munich, and is now about to join the storied ranks of World Cup athletes.
