No target left standing bar one - AUS Mixed Relay Juniors (M+W)

Published Tue 19 Dec 2023

Our AUS mixed relay juniors out-shot the French, out-shot the Austrians, and out-shot a host of other leading biathlon nations to finish 16th. The mixed relay team of Phoenix Sparke, Boris Stanish, Rosie Franzke, and Damika Morton hit 39 out of 40 targets using 14 spare rounds. Our Aussie top shot was Boris Stanish who used two spare rounds in prone to hit all five targets and then shot flawlessly in standing. Not only did the mixed relay event highlight the sharp shooting skills of our AUS Junior Team, but the event also proved to be a historic first for Ukraine who won their first ever gold in a mixed relay event at an IBU Junior Cup using just seven spare rounds.

Australia remains firmly on target for its best ever IBU Junior Cup Nations Cup result as competition draws to a close in Ridnaun, Italy tonight. Australia remains in the top 20 nations, ranked 17th in both the junior men and the junior women. Don’t forget to follow our AUS team on the IBU app. The 10km Sprint for the Junior Men is on at 8:30pm AEDT with the 7.5km Junior Women Sprint starting at midnight.

We wish our ten-athlete Australian IBU Junior Cup team all the best for their final Junior World Cup 2 events in Italy tonight.

Buona fortuna!
