International rankings after IBU season 2024-25

Dear Biathlon Family Australia,

 

Bob Cranage was Australia’s winter biathlon champion in 1977. He also achieved the best results of the Australian National Team at the 1978 Biathlon World Championships (WCHs) in Hochfilzen, Austria. Bob was joined on the Australian biathlon WCH team by Lauri Jortikka, Bob Butler, and Andrew Paul.

 

 

When Andrew Paul (pictured above), competed with the AUS team at the 1978 Biathlon World Championships, the sport was run exclusively in the classic style with small calibre rifles entering the scene to shoot at the recently invented folding targets.

 

Biathlon debuted at the Olympic Winter Games (OWG) in 1960. Australia debuted in biathlon at the Olympic Games in 1984 represented by Andrew Paul (six years on from his WCHs debut). Leading into Milano Cortina 2026, Darcie Morton is our front runner in the IBU Q point rankings:
