EQ / Soft Skills training

Published Thu 04 Jun 2026

Dear Coaches and Biathlon Family

One of the cornerstones of great coaching is not just technical expertise, but the ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone – from newbies to seasoned veterans.  As we continue to grow together and build an amazing TeamAus, developing soft skills—such as empathy, communication, and adaptability—remains essential to creating positive experiences for athletes and fellow coaches alike.

Thanks to our National Integrity Manager, Brooke Irvine’s diligent research, we collated some valuable (mostly free) resources and courses aimed at enhancing these crucial coaching skills.

The ASC Coaching Courses incorporate soft skills modules, which you can explore here: https://www.ausport.gov.au/coaching/community/education/community-coaching-essential-skills

For those looking to deepen their understanding, there’s also a Master Class here: https://www.ausport.gov.au/coaching/community/education/community-coaching-masterclasses

The Modern Coaching Approach is another helpful resource, focusing on contemporary methods and inclusivity: https://www.ausport.gov.au/coaching/community#the-modern-coaching-approach

If you’re interested in expanding your learning even further, check out these additional courses:

These resources are designed to help all coaches, regardless of experience, embrace the values of inclusiveness and effective communication. By developing our soft skills, we’re not just improving our coaching—we’re strengthening the fabric of our awesome community.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to welcoming everyone and supporting each other. Let’s keep working together to build a positive coaching culture where everyone feels valued and encouraged to achieve their best.
