Dear Athletes and Coaches,
Biathlon Australia is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the IBU Para Biathlon Basic Coaching Course for the 2026/27 season.
The IBU Academy Coach Education Programme provides a clear pathway for coach development, with courses designed to support individuals from entry-level through to experienced coaches. This Para Biathlon Basic Course is ideal for those looking to build or expand their knowledge in para biathlon.
Course Overview:
The course consists of approximately 90 hours of learning, delivered through a combination of online modules and in-person sessions. Completion of the course also requires practical coaching hours, which can be undertaken at IBU Para Biathlon camps or within a club or National Federation environment.
Course Dates & Locations:
- Week 1: 5–8 June 2026 – Antholz, Italy
- Week 2: 22–25 September 2026 – Oberhof, Germany
Participant Criteria:
- Maximum of 12 candidates selected internationally
- Coaches with basic para biathlon knowledge
- Experienced para biathlon or cross-country skiing coaches
- Former athletes interested in transitioning into coaching
- All applicants must be nominated by their National Federation
Course Content:
Participants will receive both theoretical and practical instruction, including:
- Fundamentals of para biathlon
- Classification
- Accessibility in sport
- Applied training science
- Skiing and shooting techniques
- Coaching and communication (soft skills)
