Damon Morton selected for IBU Second Level Coaching Course

Dear Biathlon Family Australia,

Congratulations to Damon Morton who has been selected to represent Australia at the upcoming IBU Level 2 Coaching Course. Damon is an IBU Level 1 coach who represented AUS in biathlon at the 2017 World Championships and 2017 Sapporo Asian Winter Games. Damon’s best biathlon results were 11th in the 2014 Youth and Junior World Championships in Presque Isle, Maine, United States, and 7th in the 2016 IBU Junior Cup 3 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

Damon was recently the AUS team coach for biathlon at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea. He was also an AUS team coach at the 2024 Youth and Junior World Championships in Otepää, Estonia. He continues to coach AUS biathlon athletes on the pathway from IBU Junior Cup through to IBU Cup and World Cup / World Championship level.

The IBU Coach Education Program consists of 4 levels: Basic, First, Second, and Third Level. The Second Level Course consists of a series of three 5-day education workshops and 200 hours training in total. The first week will be held in Oberhof (GER) from 13-18 September 2024. The second and third weeks will be held at the beginning of April 2025 in Lillehammer (NOR) and in June 2025 in Otepää (EST).
