Biathlon Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of Kate Allman to our Board of Directors.
Kate is a prominent freelance sports journalist, broadcaster and media professional. She is a commentator on top-flight sports leagues including for the A-League Women, Asian Women's Champions League, Hockey One, Swimming Australia, American Football Australia, Athletics NSW, and also writes for a range of national publications including The Daily Telegraph and Herald Sun. Occasionally you may catch her on game day as ground announcer and MC for Giants AFL, the NSW Swifts, Sydney FC, NFL Australia or the Waratahs.
With a double degree in law and media from UNSW, Kate combines strategic thinking with an exceptional media network and experience. She adores skiing at Perisher, where she first learnt to shred, and has a proud track record in promoting winter sports through her writing for Snowaction magazine, Snowsbest.com, Mountainwatch, Chillfactor magazine, Escape and Traveller.
Kate was previously theSponsorships Manager on the Committee for UNSW Hockey and is currently a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the Kennedy Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation championing Australian Journalism.

Kate's appointment fills the casual vacancy created upon Tristan Creed's resignation late last year and fills some strategic gaps in our board's skills matrix (derived with thanks from the Australian Sports Commission). The Board now has 4 male and 4 female directors; 3 from Victoria, 1 from the ACT and 4 from NSW; and 6 of whom are completely independent - with no family members competing or coaching in the sport. This aligns with our recently updated constitution, our ongoing commitment to outstanding governance and our vision for A Better Biathlon for All.
Please join us in welcoming Kate to the team!
