Victorian Junior Cross-Country Ski Championships
Despite another challenging winter with limited snow, the 2026 Victorian Junior Cross-Country Ski Sprint and Distance Championships provided a fantastic opportunity for young athletes to race. A huge thank you goes to the organisers and volunteers for delivering a successful event despite the conditions.
It was great to see a strong group of Australia's junior biathletes on the start line, with several producing excellent performances across the weekend.
Some of the standout results included:
- U20: Finn Meehan dominated the weekend, winning both the Sprint and Distance events.
- U20: Thea Harvey claimed victory in the Skate Sprint before finishing second in the Classic 10 km Distance.
- U16: Carmen Cullen-Croke finished third in the Sprint and second in the 5 km Distance.
- U16: Oscar O'Sullivan, a new Biathlon Australia member, took out the 5 km Distance title.
- U16: Eva Skilton finished third in the 5 km Distance.
- U16: Angus Skilton narrowly missed the podium with fourth place in the Sprint.
- U12: Pippa Creed impressed with a win in the Sprint, showcasing excellent skating technique.
A big thank you also goes to the parents of our biathlon athletes. Your support, encouragement and willingness to help throughout the weekend was greatly appreciated and played an important role in making the event a success.
Biathlon Australia Chairman Invited to Speak at IBU Congress
Biathlon Australia Chairman David Winsor has been invited by the International Biathlon Union (IBU) to participate in a governance panel discussion at the 17th IBU Congress.
The Congress will be held in late September in Berchtesgaden, Germany, and brings together representatives from National Federations around the world to discuss the future direction of the sport.
David's invitation provides Biathlon Australia an opportunity to contribute to discussions with leaders from across the international biathlon community.
Mt Buller Come & Try Biathlon
The Mt Buller Come & Try Biathlon program has continued to attract strong interest throughout the season, introducing hundreds of people to the sport.
"It’s been a pretty good season for Come and Try Biathlon at Mt Buller. We welcomed 289 participants over opening weekend, then during a wet weather Come and Try session on a Wednesday, we hosted 176 athletes from various snow programs in just two hours," said Boris Stanish.

The Weekend Biathlon Program is also running throughout August on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 am to 8:30 am.

Updated Education Plan
Biathlon Australia (BA) has updated its Integrity Education Plan to help protect the fairness, safety, and integrity of our sport. The plan, developed in partnership with Sport Integrity Australia (SIA), sets out the required and recommended education courses for BA members and supports a safe, fair and inclusive environment for participants at every level of the sport.
The BA Integrity Education Plan is available to download from the BA Website which also directs members to the online courses available through SIA’s eLearning portal.
Why it matters
Education is a key part of protecting sport integrity. By completing the relevant courses, members help reduce integrity risks and strengthen the culture of respect, fairness, and accountability across biathlon.
What members need to know
The updated BA Integrity Education Plan applies to all BA members. If you are unsure about your current status of education completion, the quickest way to confirm is through the SIA eLearning portal or by contacting BA’s Integrity Manager via email integrity@biathlonaustralia.com.au.
Member action
Members should review the updated Board approved BA Integrity Education Plan, complete any outstanding courses, and keep their education status up to date. This is an important step in helping BA maintain a trusted and inclusive sporting environment for all.

Final Call on the Expression of Interest: IBU Para Biathlon Camp 2026
Biathlon Australia is seeking Expressions of Interest from athletes interested in attending the IBU Para Biathlon Camp in Oberhof, Germany.
Camp dates: 25 September to 2 October 2026
The camp is designed for developing athletes with limited or no high-level Para Biathlon competition experience.
We now only have space for one athlete.
The IBU will cover accommodation and meals for confirmed participants and provide travel support for each athlete/guide.
The Organising Committee in Oberhof, together with FIS, is also planning to conduct physical impairment (PI) classification during or immediately following the camp. Further information will be provided once confirmed.
Biathlon Australia is also exploring opportunities to extend the trip through a potential Para partnership training camp. More information will be shared if this opportunity progresses.
If you are interested in attending, please submit your Expression of Interest to Biathlon Australia by 5pm, Thursday the 30th ofJuly 2026 to allow time for registrations to be completed before the IBU deadline.
