AUS IBU Junior Cup team achieves top 20 Nations Cup Points

Published Tue 19 Dec 2023

The ten-athlete Australian IBU Junior Cup team has moved to Ridnaun after posting Australia’s best result in years finishing the first two races ranked 16th in the men and 19th in the women. Congratulations to our awesome debutants Damika, Bridget, Edward and Rosie who all completed both the Sprint and Individual with aplomb and Personal Best results. Australia had ten athletes start strong, stay strong, and finish strong, in both the Sprint and Individual in Pokljuka. Well done team.

Noah Bradford was the team standout for Junior Cup 1 with two top half of the field results. In the Junior Men 15km individual Noah finished 43rd of 141 finishers with two mistakes (0,1,1,0 for 90% shooting). In the Junior Men 10km Sprint, Boris Stanish led the Aussie Junior Mens' pack in 55th with Noah in 69th from over 160 starters with Phoenix Sparke, Samuel Johnson and Edward Woodhouse-Bedak in pursuit.

Other impressive results from the weekend included Ava McCann 54th of over 130 starters in the Junior Women 7.5km Sprint (one result among the top half of the finishers at Junior IBU Cup), Alesandra Sydun-West who shot flawlessly in the Sprint (0,0) finishing in 84th with Bridget Harvey following closely in 86th. In the 12.5 km Individual, our top two junior women were Damika Morton who finished 62nd and Rosie Franzke who finished in 71st of the 106 who finished.

Only two more days until our team is back on course racing the Junior Men 10km Sprint again, this time in Ridnaun-Val Ridanna.

Buona fortuna in Italy!
