A National Team Training Camp is being held at SSAA Wodonga Rifle Range.

This focus of the Camp is to develop and test shooting skills of National Team members as well as a series of physical fitness tests determing strength and fitness of athletes. An optional 1 hr roller-ski will follow on Sunday after physical fitness testing. 

When:  4th, 5th and 6th November 2022

Where:  SSAA Wodonga Rilfe Range -  101 Klings Road, Barnawartha North, VIC, 3691 

Times and Schedule:   See below 

Friday 4pm to 6pm  - arrive 3.45pm. 

Session will include zeroing, shooting drills and review of testing drills, ready for Saturday testing.  

Saturday 9am to 12noon  / lunch  / 2pm to 4pm 

Arrive 8.45am for 9am start in the Clubhouse 

9am  - Outline of purpose of testing, athlete indivdiual goals to achieve - including long term and short term goals, outline of tests and drills for those not able to attend Friday session.  Range set up. 

10am to 12noon - Testing commences, athletes will be part of reviewing their results with results recorded. 

12noon to 2pm - lunch (BYO)  in Clubhouse,  2nd hour of break including dry-fire technique and eco-aims laser rifle use to track athlete's rifle movement.

2pm to 4pm - repeat of morning drills to measure improvement and relays with shooting under pressure and heat-rate 

6.00pm - team dinner  / venue to be advised. 

Sunday 9am - 11am

Arrive 8.45am for a 9am start

Physical fitness testing followed by 1hr optional 1hr roller- skiing 

Testing will include sit-ups, dips, erg rowing test, double pole test, and others, Result will be recorded for athletes to self-improve.

Camp Finishes:  1pm Sunday or earlier.

For Whom: National Team(s) athletes and invited U14 athletes.

Coaching Sessions Cost:  

Each coaching session is $25 - please purchase a ticket for each session you are attending. 

Range Fees:

Juniors (U18yrs):  $10 per session if a member of SSAA Biathlon Wodonga and have own rifle and ammunition 

If you are not a member of SSAA Wodonga but wish to join, the cost for Juniors is $20 annual membership. Athletes may wish to join SSAA Biathlon Wodonga, as there will be on-going training camps at the Range. Please email Lynn-Maree Cullen on lmc0511@gmail.com to obtain a membership form and pay the $10 session fee.  

Adults (over 18yrs): $25 per session if an SSAA member / $40 per session if not an SSAA member 

Range Fees for each session / day attending should be paid when registering to attend. 

What to Bring:

Shooting: biathlon rifle and accessories, ammunition.

Rifles may be available for hire if you do not have a .22 biathlon rifle, please indicate requirements when registering. 

Roller-Skiing: Roller-ski equipment including roller-skis, boots, poles, helmet. 

Hydration and Snacks:  Participants should bring plenty of drinks and snacks with them to all sessions. 

Training Diary:  Athletes should bring their training diary to record their sessions to share with their personal coach.  If an athletes does not have a training diary, please purchase an A5 notebook to bring to the Camp. The purpose of a training diary will be outlined and the camps sessions can be recorded and begin the start of the athlete's training diary.   

Lunch:  Lunch on Saturday 5th Nov is BYO at the SSAA Clubhouse. 

What to Wear:  Training clothing suitable for weather conditions including covered shoes for running, hat, sunscreen.  Check the weather forecast and ensure you have suitable clothing for each session, including change of clothing and suitable clothing should the weather/forecast change. 

Weather conditions indicate a fine weekend, however conditions can change and athletes should have appropriate clothing with them for the sessions they are attending.
